Meet the Doctors
Brett Rankin, M.D.
Dr. Rankin leads the talented otolaryngology team at Family Ear, Nose & Throat, LLC. His mission is to provide comprehensive care to patients living in and around Kittery, Maine, and Portsmouth, New Hampshire.
Originally from southern Connecticut, Dr. Rankin moved to the Seacoast during his high school years and graduated from York High School in York, Maine. In 1989, Dr. Rankin graduated summa cum laude from Colby College in Waterville, Maine, with a Bachelor of Arts degree in biology and chemistry. He is a member of the Phi Beta Kappa honor society. He received his medical training at the University of Vermont Medical School in Burlington, Vermont, where he was elected to the prestigious Alpha Omega Alpha honor society. Upon graduating from medical school in 1993, Dr. Rankin completed a five-year surgical residency in otolaryngology (ENT) in a joint program between the University of Vermont’s Fletcher Allen Healthcare and Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center. He subsequently completed a one-year fellowship program in facial plastic and reconstructive surgery at the University of California, Irvine.
Dr. Rankin offers expertise on a wide range of Ear, Nose & Throat conditions, including sinus problems, obstructive sleep apnea, tonsillitis, ear infections, thyroid issues, and head and neck cancers. He is board certified in otolaryngology and holds medical licenses from both New Hampshire and Maine. He is a member of the American Board of Otolaryngology, the American Society of Otolaryngology, the American Academy of Otolaryngic Allergy, the New Hampshire Medical Society, the Maine Medical Association, and the Maine Otolaryngology Society. He has also been a member of the Foundation for Seacoast Health scholarship review committee since 2005.
For Dr. Rankin, the patient always comes first. He takes the time to truly listen to his patients and to educate them about their conditions. He is a favorite of young and old patients alike and was named a “Top Doctor” by New Hampshire magazine in 2009 and 2010.
Dr. Rankin and his family have lived in the Seacoast area since 2000 and, in their spare time, they enjoy traveling, hiking, gardening, and skiing.
